Why is he ignoring me ?!?

I've liked this guy for awhile . he knew last year . and for some reason he just became more closer to me as the year progressed . and then we went to a blue jays game , and like he gave me signs that he liked me back ; he bought me a drink , he tried putting his arm around me .. that kinda thing . this year like a few days ago i told him that i still liked him , i left him a voicemail , and he told me he totally understood ? and then afteer that he totally ignored me . hes been avoiding me . and when my friend asked why he said he didnt know how to reply to that . he said something about how i yelled at him before about something , and he told me then that id regret it ? ( which is true ) . we were really good friends before , and now its totally gone . i've tried msging him on msn , calling him , nothing gets an answer . hes avoiding me and it really hurts ! i dunt even care if i dunt get a reply for what i said , i just want to be the friends we were before , but it doesnt seem like he wants that eitheer . what do i do ? what does this mean ? :(
